This primary source discusses that teachers in the 1800’s weren’t overpaid but underpaid.
First the author points out what teachers have to do and how much it costs for them to
manage teaching. In addition he emphasizes that teachers only got money for 10 of 12
months teaching. Finally Horace Mann concludes that it’s a fallacy so say that teachers
in the 1800’s were overpaid. This helped me understand my topic because it showed me
that Horace Mann wasn’t at one side whether on the side from the government or on the
side of the citizens.

“kindergarten” should be done for kids to learn but not standing under pressure. This
helped me understand my topic because it gave me a new view of school education in the

provoking thing the author mentioned was that it’s a shame how the government is
treating its citizens because the whole article was about that. In conclusion, Horace Mann
